B.Tech Marine Engineering
Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering is a professional undergraduate engineering degree approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) and AICTE, designed for students aspiring to build a career in the engine department of Merchant Navy ships.
The course focuses on marine engines, electrical systems, ship machinery, automation, thermodynamics, naval architecture basics, safety systems, and engine-room operations.
B.Tech Marine Engineering combines rigorous classroom education with practical workshop and ship-based training, preparing students to manage complex marine machinery and systems onboard modern vessels. After completing the degree, candidates join ships as Marine Engineer Trainees, undergo mandatory sea-time, and appear for competency examinations to rise through ranks such as Fourth Engineer, Third Engineer, Second Engineer, and ultimately Chief Engineer.
This course is ideal for students seeking a technically strong, engineering-focused, and globally respected maritime career after 12th PCM, offering excellent long-term growth and international exposure.
Why Opt for B.Tech in Marine Engineering?
B.Tech Marine Engineering is one of the most prestigious and technically advanced pathways to enter the Merchant Navy after 12th. It provides students with a recognized engineering degree along with specialized maritime training, making it ideal for candidates inclined towards machinery, engines, and technical problem-solving.
One of the key advantages of B.Tech Marine Engineering is its dual career scope. Graduates can sail as marine engineers on merchant ships or transition to high-paying shore-based roles in shipping companies, shipyards, power plants, offshore platforms, maritime automation, and technical management.
In addition to strong technical knowledge, the program develops leadership, safety awareness, decision-making ability, and teamwork—critical skills for engine officers managing ship operations. For students who prefer an engineering-oriented maritime career with global opportunities, B.Tech Marine Engineering is a powerful and career oriented choice.
